Acsys, Inc. as it exists today originally started as seven separate accounting and finance staffing specialty companies, each a leader in their market with an average company history of 15 years. Bound by their common focus on accounting and finance, a shared commitment to superior service and a mutual desire to expand their network, the seven firms elected to combine their resources and merged to form Acsys in 1997.
In the year that followed, Acsys expanded its network even further by acquiring four additional staffing firms. At that time, in response to market demands, we also expanded our services and began offering information technology search and consulting in addition to accounting and finance recruiting assistance.
Acsys's performance soon caught the attention of Vedior NV, one of the world's largest recruitment companies. Currently under the leadership of Zach Miles, Vedior operates 2,200 offices in 43 countries, offering short or long term work to over 1,000,000 people across the globe each year.
Vedior's practice is to invest in a variety of niche sectors of the staffing industry, rather than become too dependent on one specific area and to leave the majority of management decisions up to local offices. This global presence/local focus fit in perfectly with Acsys's objectives, allowing us to leverage the resources of a larger, international organization while continuing to provide the same local service and support that differentiated us from our competitors. We joined Vedior, NV in 2000.
As a member of the Vedior Group of Companies, Acsys became part of a national network of accounting and finance staffing specialists. Our own network now consists of 14 branches and spans the East coast, but together with our sister company, Accountants Inc., our national network expands to include 45 offices across the country.
Today, the staffing industry has become a significant contributor to job creation while enjoying a period of growth that is projected to last well into the future. Changes in the way industries are looking at employment indicate that temporary staffing is quickly becoming a major component of the staffing strategy of many companies. More and more employers view flexible labor management as a key factor in remaining competitive in today's market. And this flexibility applies to all skills levels, changing the face of the typical contingent worker. While industrial and clerical jobs still account for most use of project staff, there is a growing market for professionals with higher education and skills levels like those in accounting and finance and information technology. As specialists in both of these arenas, Acsys is well prepared to meet this increased demand and is certain to retain its status as a market leader for years to come.
